Dispute Resolution
An integral part of the Agreement is its dispute resolution process whereby Parties undertake to resolve disputes in a conciliatory, cooperative and harmonious manner. Accordingly, the AIT provides for progressive steps in its dispute avoidance and resolution processes under Chapter Seventeen.
Dispute/Complaint Statistics
The Secretariat tracks the progress of complaints through the dispute resolution processes referred to above. The summary data presented identifies each complaint by file number, applicable chapter, parties involved, stage of the complaint and whether a complaint is between government to government or between government and a private person. A short description of each complaint since the inception of the AIT is also provided.
